SharePoint Updates Installation
Instructions to install the SharePoint Updates, Patches or Hot Fixes on SharePoint Servers.
- Download exe file from Microsoft site.
- Take backup of SharePoint farm either using Central Admin or using SQL database backup method.
- Stop User Profile Synchronization service as well.
- Stop Custom Timer Jobs if exist.
- Stop the services in the following order. Admin Service SPTimer Search Search Host Controller
- Run exe file and install updates on App Servers and then web servers.
- Run Configuration Wizard on Central Admin Server and then the remaining servers.
- Start the Services in reverse order Search Host Controller Search SPTimer Admin Service
- Start User Profile Synchronization Service.
- Start Custom Timer Jobs.
- If you get the error “Some Products were not detected on Server <Server Name>” when you run configuration wizard, please run the following command in Windows PowerShell.
psconfig.exe -cmd installcheck -noinstallcheck
